The Radar 135: Mixed by bloody white

It’s not every day that Dancing Astronaut is graced with the curative presence of a Radar mixer like bloody white, a rising emo-pop producer whose specialties include bending genres with nostalgic vinyl FX from his bedroom. Born in Santa Barbara, the DIY artist exploded into 2020 with “tounge tied,” a single that has garnered more than 2 million streams to date while building considering industry buzz to boot. Now, White has returned to the release circuit with his long-awaited EP, some reflections, in hand. The project bridges Flume-esque future bass prowess with Daft Punk-inspired vocal effects across a punchy trio of tracks. However, the bright and upbeat sound on some reflections, which finds bloody white treating his lyrical talents as another instrument, is not to be confused with some of white’s early, tonally darker influences, such as Skrillex and Kendrick Lamar. This is evident on his exclusive Radar Mix for Dancing Astronaut. The 33-minute long arrangement is a bass-infused fiesta piled with flips of popular hip-hop tracks, including a Milkfish edit of Megan Thee Stallion‘s “Cash Shit” and a remix of the Timbaland classic, “Give It To Me.” TroyBoi‘s “Do You,” “ENTOMBMENT” by GETTER, and a Skrillex ID are among white’s other selects.
