Oliver Heldens and Sonny Fodera repurpose Glass Animals’ ‘Heat Waves’ for dance floor primetime

After sprinting into the new year with six-track EP, Childhood, Glass Animals pivot the focus back to their third studio album, Dreamland, as they revisit their standout track “Heat Waves” with two new remixes. The duly-dubbed Heat Waves (Expansion Pack) recruits Oliver Heldens and Sonny Fodera for their creative prowess in their respective transformations of the psychedelic pop song. Both reconstructions distinctly reference the predecessor, retaining core melodic elements and maintaining a vocal-centric base. Heldens instills a driving four-on-the-floor approach to his remix, which bolsters the structure of the original with dance-oriented instincts as opposed to regenerating its fundamentals from scratch. On the opposite spectrum, Fodera builds his own progressive production and siphons the hook into pumping bass lines and electricity-generating arpeggiators. Heldens and Fodera are not the first heavyweight producers to take on the 2020 Glass Animals single. In fact, the pair succeed Diplo, whose future bass-inspired remix landed shortly after the original’s release. Stream Heat Waves (Expansion Pack) below.
