Although it undoubtedly felt like more, two years had come and gone since the last Labor Day Weekend had been spent on Randall’s Island, but Electric Zoo finally made a triumphant sixth borough homecoming as the 2021 summer began its final descent. As it does each and every year, the Made Event-hosted festival took over SiriusXM’s airwaves to stream on Diplo’s Revolution for those that weren’t able to be on the island in person. Now, as New York City looks back on an unforgettable return to the festival circuit, a myriad of sets from all three days are available to re-experience in both video (thanks to Destination EDM) and audio form. From the moment we stepped through the main entrance, the feeling of being back at Electric Zoo was absolutely surreal. Friday served as a more than auspicious opening for the weekend ahead, with finely tuned performances from the likes of Dancing Astronaut‘s Breakout Artist of 2020 in Moore Kismet at the Brownies & Lemonade stage, Blanke at Deadbeats’ Hilltop takeover, and Alesso’s nostalgia-filled finale at the mainstage. There was a general consensus that Saturday held its own as one of Electric Zoo’s single most memorable days in its 12-year history, marching out a top-tier lineup that included one of Dancing Astronaut’s Artists to Watch in 2021 in John Summit, Kaskade, REZZ, and a deadmau5 appearance under his testpilot alter-ego. Despite some early rainfall, Electric Zoo’s third and final day closed out its 2021 iteration in grand fashion, with Dom Dolla, Adventure Club, ILLENIUM, and more pulling out all the stops to send the sold-out Randall’s Island audience home on a high note.Stream an entire weekend’s worth of Electric Zoo sets below.
