Cometa has officially launched the M2, a limited-run rotary blending amplifier and high-performance club mixer built for DJs, engineers, collectors, and hi-fi users who prioritize analog control and premium componentry. The Los Angeles-based audio design house is producing only 300 units, priced at $14,999.99 USD, with sales handled directly through the company.
The M2 occupies the upper echelon of DJ and listening-room hardware, where the physical interface is as critical as the sonic output. Developed in collaboration with industrial designer Tobias Brunner, this Swiss-designed and California-built mixer is engineered around a Class-A discrete analog signal path. The internal architecture features high-end components, including Cinemag transformers, WIMA film capacitors, and a fully machined aluminum chassis, catering to users who demand low-noise performance and precise gain structure.

The technical foundation of the M2 is its Class-A discrete analog circuitry, designed to provide high headroom and transparent output. A standout feature is the proprietary VU meter located at the center of the top panel, which utilizes 390 LEDs to provide visual feedback. The meter includes selectable display “personalities,” allowing users to map the visual behavior to various industry-standard VU operations.
Tone shaping is handled by dual TONE controls, which utilize a Pultec-style passive tonestack EQ. This design choice emphasizes musical adjustment over surgical correction, allowing DJs to tailor playback systems and blend records with a natural, analog feel.

Beyond its core mixing capabilities, the M2 includes active FX send and return channels with PRE/POST push-button switching, facilitating the integration of external effects. The aluminum chassis incorporates a lockable, hinged design that allows for easy access to the internal circuit layout, while the knobs are ergonomically shaped to provide tactile orientation cues for low-light environments.
