After posting a 26-second preview of his viral track “Rain” in June and releasing “Rain” And “Diary of a poor kid” in October, Papa Khan has now delivered the project from which they hail in full. That endeavor, his four-track Blossom EP, takes a broad step forward in the context of dubstep’s sound design and arrangement. The EP is uniquely fitted with vocal-less features, directing listeners’ attention to the emotional ambiance created by Khan’s multilayered chord progressions, cinematic pads, and arpeggiated melodic rhythms. The EP’s two previously unreleased inclusions, “Utopia” and “Blossom,” follow a similar production pathway as “Rain” and “Diary of a poor kid,” but “Blossom” notably stands somewhat more apart given its focus. “Blossom” pays tribute to Khan’s father, whom he recently lost to cancer. Khan said of the song,Papa Khan’s sought-after bass sound should not be overlooked in 2021. The producer has directly supported MARAUDA on Insomniac‘s Bassrush showcase and has also been recognized by dubstep heavyweights such as Skrillex and 12th Planet.
