Lady Gaga‘s mega-collaboration with Ariana Grande “Rain on Me” came in swinging in its first week, securing a debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. This announcement comes after the release of Gaga’s sixth studio album, Chromatica, on May 29.
While this is certainly not either artists’ first chart-topper, this number one does mark some new achievements for Gaga and Grande. Produced by Bloodpop, Burns, & Tchami and co-written by Boyz Noise, “Rain on Me” is Lady Gaga’s fifth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 and lands her as the third solo artist to ring in the top spot in the 00s, 10s, and 20s. Ariana Grande, on the other hand, makes history with this chart-topping hit as she becomes the first artist to debut at number one four different times. She was previously tied with Mariah Carey, Drake, and Justin Bieber with three top spot debuts.
Other major achievements for the single include number one in Digital Song Sales with 72,000 downloads in its first week and number two on Streaming Songs with 31.4 million streams in its first week.
