Kaivon has steadily arisen as one of future-bass’ most impactful voices since he formally began releasing music six years ago, breaking through with his first official single, “Reborn.” In the time since, he’s put out lauded remixes for Alison Wonderland and ILLENIUM, played some of the most prominent dance/electronic festival in the world, and even hosted his own headlining tour. But he’s never released an album—until now.Due via Lowly on August 12, Awakening, an effort rooted in Kaivon’s personal awakening over the past two years, will be his debut LP. The project is led by four singles, “I Know”, “Lost,” “Love Is Blind,” and, most recently, “Hollywood Hills.” Released just days after Kaivon’s announcement of his forthcoming full-length project (made the week of July 11), “Hollywood Hills” arrives in tandem with an animated visual that proves a complementary accompaniment to the melancholy future-bass single. Thematically, the final piece of the Awakening rollout speaks to the Hollywood Hills, their grandeur, and ultimately, how they might not be as glamorous as they seem.
