John Summit locks in summer’s next defining track with Defected Records reunion, ‘La Danza’

It clearly doesn’t have to be the calendar’s middle months for the summer of Summit to be in full effect at this point. Dancing Astronaut‘s reigning Breakout Artist of the Year always seems to be holding an ID in his back pocket that unfailingly sits top of mind—with “Make Me Feel,” his Vintage Culture-paired “Drinkee” retouch, and “Human” being just a few of them from last year alone—and ever since he made his way across the pond to Printworks this past December, John Summit had another one locked in. Originally known to those that that been tracking it under the fan-branded guise of “Bailando,” “La Danza” now lands on Defected Records to officially launch Summit’s musical defense of his breakout artist title.“La Danza” truly could not have arrived at a better time, with the long-awaited revival of both Miami Music Week and Ultra happening in exactly two weeks. And Summit—who’s amongst our 10-can’t miss sets during the latter’s Bayfront Park homecoming—will have the chance to have his year-opening release tag along when he mans the decks atop Ultra’s newly introduced Resistance stage on March 26. “La Danza” sums up just about everything that led to John Summit becoming our sole option for the artist that took dance music’s biggest leap in 2021, with Summit surrendering a Latin-embedded tech-house scorcher that follows in the label footsteps of “Deep End,” his last Defected Records original from 2020 that helped put him front and center on the dance music map and also eventually earn him a spot on our list of 2021’s artists to watch. While we wait to hear “La Danza” once more in Miami, take the chance to finally stream it below.Featured image: Chris LavadoTags: ,
