Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival 2020 is officially canceled in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to an official announcement from festival organizers disseminated on June 25.
An excerpt from Bonnaroo’s official statement regarding the event’s cancellation reads,
“Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will not take place this September 24-27, 2020 as originally rescheduled. Our annual time together on the Farm is nothing short of magical, but out of an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of all Bonnaroons, artists, staff, partners and our community, this is a necessary reality. More information on lineup, camping, and accommodations will be available at a later date.”
Ticket purchasers will have the option to either receive refunds or roll over their 2020 tickets to 2021. For the festival’s 20th anniversary dates, Bonnaroo announced that their routine June weekend will be restored, running from June 17-20. The Tennessee event won’t be entirely erased from the 2020 calendar, however, as they also confirmed a virtual substitute for this September with “some of our favorite moments from past and present, along with some special surprises.” Attendees who choose to roll over their tickets to 2021 will be granted free entry to the online event.
Bonnaroo is now the latest event to forego its 2020 edition due to the coronavirus pandemic. Recently, San Francisco’s Outside Lands, which, like Bonnaroo, is also produced in partnership with Superfly Presents, announced that there would be no 2020 festival. Instead, Outside Lands announced its 2021 lineup and began selling tickets for that event, as did Barcelona’s Primavera Sound.
