Tomorrowland to reportedly hold virtual festival on New Year’s Eve

Tomorrowland Around the World is still reeling off its grand unveiling in July and the festival is now planning to ensure that it wasn’t a one-off. Mere days after the release of the virtual event’s behind-the-scenes documentary, Billboard is reporting that Tomorrowland will allow millions across the globe to rid themselves of 2020 with a New Year’s Eve version of the digital festival. With Tomorrowland Around the World originally said to have racked up approximately $10 million in expenses, Tomorrowland co-founder Michiel Beers explained that its costs fell closer to $5 million when factoring in partnerships, sponsorships, and other media deals. Beers added that Tomorrowland Around the World “about broke even” after tallying up the event’s final profit and while it may not have been a financial success, they’re already working on duplicating the online effort to ring in 2021. In speaking to Billboard, Beers expanded on his belief behind the future of virtual events, stating,While any public confirmation from Tomorrowland has yet to be disclosed at the time of writing, fans who were hopeful of a second iteration now have something to look ahead towards.Via: BillboardFeatured image: Tomorrowland Around the WorldTags: , ,
