While DC and Hooks, known better together as Zeds Dead, are known as leading visionaries in the bass music space, the pair actual have a long and rich history of dabbling in other genres, and on “I Took A Ride,” the pair of Canadian beatsmiths take a breezy detour for a welcomed departure in style. Out now via the duo’s own Deadbeats imprint, “I Took A Ride” is Zeds Dead’s first single since April’s “Think of You” with Blunts N’ Blondes. While fans know Zeds Dead best for their power stance over the intersections of all things bass, they have ventured into more downtempo styles of music under their Catching Z’s series. While “I Took A Ride” sits outside of the Catching Z’s cannon, the tune’s laid back, atmospheric synthwork points to the duo’s softer and more melodic tastes. Zeds Dead continue to probe into new depths of their sound, and “I Took A Ride” is yet another next must-listen from the pair of venerated producers.
