Los Angeles’ own Rob Tirea takes a cerebral approach to house technics on “Insecure.” The single sources its velvety vocal from featured artist, Jeremy Beamish, whose contribution sits atop a dusky bed of electronic elements: dark synths, a steadying bass line, pulsating beats. Tirea stages the song’s builds, allowing them to crescendo in tandem with the octaval rise of Beamish’s vocal. Cinematically sleek, the shadowy arches and beat-guided breakdowns ebb and flow with Tirea’s controlled touch. Lyrically, “Insecure” corners feelings of insecurity and anxiety. It’s Tirea’s deliberate verbal confrontation of these pervasive sentiments, and his project on “Insecure” is to issue a statement through song.
