RL Grime hosts trap’s next generation on Sable Valley’s first compilation [Stream]

The new age trap resurgence can inarguably be partly, if not wholly, credited to RL Grime’s Sable Valley residence. With less than a month in between the trap don’s declaration of his imprint’s first compilation and the project’s debut, the fully-fledged assortment has now arrived, following Grime’s modest preview of the artists behind the Sable Valley Summer Vol. 1 track list. Two records from the label boss himself lead the compilation’s way as RL Grime includes both his long-awaited collaboration beside Whethan, “Outta Here,” plus his raucous polish of Baauer’s 2014 staple, “Swoopin.” More than a dozen other puzzle pieces from trap’s next generation fill in the album’s remaining slots, including Knock2‘s highly-coveted “Gems,” Heimanu‘s “Worlds,” Jon Casey‘s “All Push No Pull,” as well as further cuts from Jawns, Effin, Lemay, Kumarion, and Holly, among others. With the compilation’s numerical title visibly alluding towards a cycle of more albums to come, Grime’s selection abilities are as fine-tuned as ever as Sable Valley continues to heighten the trap standard in the new decade.
