In a nod to his transition from pure dance music to electric rock, Puppet introduces us to his upcoming album in grand style with its lead single, “2018.” After his debut album, I Know You Know Who I Am, was released in 2020, fans have wondered if a follow-up was in the works, but need not wonder anymore as “2018” officially kicks off the New York City-based artist’s sophomore album. Puppet got his start with consistent releases on Monstercat from 2014-2017, which included a collaboration with the late Pierce Fulton, in which he showcased his ability to blend the sounds of pop-punk, rock, and dance music. That blend of electro-rock has only gotten more popular over the years as several artists—perhaps most notably with Illenium—further incorporate that sound into their music.
