Phantoms drop their Sophomore Album ‘This Can’t Be Everything’ on Foreign Family

LA DJ/producer duo Phantoms have released their sophomore album This Can’t Be Everything on ODESZA’s record label, Foreign Family Collective, to indie dance devotees’ ample delight. Before this most recent release, the two pulled all the stops, affording eager fans five tracks that would all find permanent residence on the album. Singles “Only You,” “Letting Me Go,” “This Can’t Be Everything,” “Firepit,” and “Lay It All On Me” comprised the pre-album teaser tracks, which painted a rich, scintillating portrait of what was to come. The lush, kaleidoscopic album arrives with 13 tracks in all—11 original records. As complementary fodder for Phantom fanatics, the duo delivers an alternative version of “Only You,” as well as an extended version of “Lay It All On Me.” Phantom founders Kyle Kaplan and Vinny Pergola laid all their most visceral cards on the table with This Can’t Be Everything. Spanning “Do It Again,” with its slow deliberate groove and effortless funk, to “Echoes,” wherein a cosmic combination of tech and liquid drum ‘n’ bass collide, this album caters to all ends of the melodic dance music macrocosm.
