ODESZA are continuing to build the hype surrounding one of the most highly-anticipated projects of the year. “Behind The Sun” now arrives as the fourth attachment to the duo’s forthcoming senior album The Last Goodbye—set to arrive on July 22—and comes with an accompanying music video. Those lucky enough to have attended weekend one of Coachella may have gotten the chance to hear it when the Foreign Family Collective heads previewed their new album inside HP’s Antarctic Dome, where their new music served as the backdrop to a 360-degree interactive art display. “Behind The Sun” now follows “Love Letter” featuring The Knocks, “Better Now” featuring MARO, and the LP’s title track featuring Bettye LaVette, which will all be part of 13 total tracks come release day.“Behind The Sun” single is rife with the drums that we’ve come to know and love from their live sets and bodes well for the drum line’s return in their post-A Moment Apart appearances. ODESZA’s newest singles sparks a different energy relative to the previous The Last Goodbye outputs, being slightly less euphoric in nature and fitting more in line with some of the heavier-hitting discography that they’ve been known to occasionally turn to. It doesn’t necessarily lean all the way into trap like “Loyal” did, but it’s a perfect marriage of drums, horns, and orchestral notes that blend together in a way that only the Seattle duo could pull off. “Behind The Sun”—along with the rest of The Last Goodbye—will get a proper live debut when ODESZA take over Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena from July 29 – 31, which will be followed by a complete summer and fall tour.
