Sam Martin, “Sometimes” with DallasK, and “Distance” with Oli Holt, Romero trades in driving basslines and big-room synths for gently undulating instrumentals and a gently progressive drop in the new track.
The Protocol label head pairs the dreamy melodies with emotive vocals, producing lines like “why don’t we stay, and not get older like we’re supposed to” that evoke the nostalgia of youthful romance. “Stay” follows Nicky‘s club-ready “I See” released in January as Romero‘s first single of the year.
