The SLANDER/Dylan Matthew match-up is of that of a storied character. When Derek Andersen, Scott Land, and Matthew merged their creative sensibilities on 2017’s “Without You,” produced alongside Kayzo, the exchange didn’t just yield their debut collaboration. It also built a rapport that would propel one synergistic SLANDER/Matthew joint effort after another. And after “Hate Being Alone” (2018), “First Time” (2018) and its acoustic accompaniment (2019), and, similarly, “Love Is Gone” and its acoustic and orchestral cousins (2019 and 2021, respectively), one of dance music’s most complementary pairings is meeting again, this time with NGHTMRE for “Fall Into Me.”The long-time ID sheds its status as such to surface as the lead single from NGHTMRE’s debut LP. Although Matthew and NGHTMRE’s talents had yet to collide up until this point, some might say their sonic interplay was only a matter of time, their complementary styles and NGHTMRE’s 2019 remix of “First Time” considered. By contrast, NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s rich history as collaborators needs no recapitulation, and “Fall Into Me,” which answers their 2020 sensation, “Feeling Gud,” evinces the sheer power of a NGHTMRE and SLANDER production credit. “I started the original drop idea for ‘Fall Into Me’ just at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. It has been one of my favorite unreleased songs for soooo long and I’m insanely happy to be releasing it,” NGHTMRE said. “We had been wanting to work on new music together so after I wrote the idea, I passed it off to Dylan Matthew and SLANDER. They really elevated it to the next level! Dylan really captured exactly the vibe I wanted for the vocal (not to mention played all the piano for the song as well in one seamless take). SLANDER and I have always loved making melodic bass music, and this feels like the perfect follow up to our fan favorites ‘Gud Vibrations’ and ‘Feelin Gud.’”To come to a festival’s main stage near you, “Fall Into Me” is primed for the 2022 electronic events circuit, and is said by SLANDER to be the prelude to the release of their fabled ID, “Walk On Water.” Fans of the SLANDER/Matthew format will also delight in the intel that one release will soon beget another; as the Dancing Astronaut‘s inaugural Supernova finishes his fifth EP, he’s also developing a joint album and tour with SLANDER. Much is to come, but in the interim, “Fall Into Me” can be streamed below.Featured image: SLANDER/InstagramTags: dylan matthew, melodic bass, NGHTMRE, Slander
