Montell2099 has made a statement with his latest release on RL Grime‘s Sable Valley label. “Blicky” sets the tone right away with heavy bass and a repetitive vocal cut that leads into a rousing build, ultimately making for an excellent lead in to futuristic trap synths layered over thundering waves of bass. “Blicky” is Montell2099’s first single since February’s “Broken” with Netsky. “Broken” was the second time the two bass producers had joined forces, and it was enough for an invite to two weekends of Tomorrowland at Netsky’s curated bass stage. Montell2099 was able to crowd test “Blicky” one more time in Belgium before a full release, giving the track one of its most impactful live plays before it officially saw the light of day. Now “Blicky” undoubtedly stands as another weapon in Montell2099’s growing arsenal.
