Lofi-electronic dance music producer Chris Gavino aka Manila Killa has finally unveiled the release date, and name, of his debut LP. Title track “Dusk”—featuring keeling, heart-rending vocals from pop songstress Lights—was teased by the artist on social media before finally being released via the Moving Castle on May 19. Killa’s full-length album will also be released by the imprint on July 21.
The LA-based beatmaker shared exclusively to Dancing Astronaut how special the single is to him as he was able to produce the collaborative tune with two artists he highly regards. “The initial demo started with Cosmo’s Midnight—we’ve been friends ever since I met them on tour in Australia back in 2016 and we reached out to Felix Cartal to send the demo over to Lights. Lights is an artist who I also always looked up to…she actually performed at one of the first concerts I ever went to in high school, so to be able to collaborate with her was a full circle moment.”
The song is an emotive, moving track—suitable for cruising down the freeway to on a tepid summer night and simultaneously one you can get down to on the dance floor. Listen to the title track of Manila Killa’s eagerly anticipated debut LP below.Featured Image: John Liwag
