There’s few—if any—artists whose sound is better equipped for summer than tropical-house king Kygo, and his latest single, “Never Really Loved Me” with Dean Lewis, reaffirms it. Kygo recently premiered “Never Really Loved Me” at the second edition of Palm Tree Music Festival in The Hamptons, which welcomed performances from Disclosure, and Claptone, among others. The June event even featured an appearance from Jimmy Buffet himself, who came out during Kygo’s set. It’s not the first time the Margaritaville founder has joined Kygo on stage, which only adds to the unlikely bond the two have developed over time. Add a shared love for bringing people together by way of music meant to be heard under the summer sun, not to mention Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew brand’s emulation of what Buffet’s Margaritaville brand has accomplished, and it’s clear that their connection is a complementary one. On the heels of “Never Really Loved Me,” Kygo is setting his eyes on what will be perhaps his biggest show yet: a headlining sting at Oslo, Norway’s Ullevaal Stadion, which fits 28,000 people, not including those on the field watching from the floor. Later in October, he’ll take to New York’s Madison Square Garden for what is set to be his first show in the city since 2018. Stream his latest tropical house triumph, “Never Really Loved Me,” below.
