After ten years apart, the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ estranged guitarist, John Frusciante has rejoined the band. As the legendary rock group broke the news of the iconic guitarist’s return on Flea’s Instagram account, they simultaneously announced that they would be parting ways with Josh Klinghoffer, who replaced Frusciante after his 2009 departure.
Frusciante’s tenure in the rock sector is widely known, but it is notably not Frusciante’s sole area of expertise. In the time that followed his break from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Frusciante famously forayed into acid house. The electronic excursion yielded Trickfinger in 2015, and the aptly titled Trickfinger II in 2017. Now, for the third time in the band’s storied history, Frusciante returns to the lineup—just in time for spring festival season.
