ILLENIUM celebrates Batman collaboration with surprise rework of Nirvana’s ‘Something In The Way’

For his first solo appearance of 2022, ILLENIUM is back with an out-of-the-blue release, putting his spin on Nirvana’s 1991 classic, “Something In The Way.” It’s the first time our 2021 Artist of the Year has formally reworked a track that wasn’t his own in nearly four years, last updating Halsey‘s “Without Me” back in 2018. And while he said in an exclusive sitdown with Dancing Astronaut in 2020 that he hadn’t been as actively searching out songs to remix anymore, it seemed like it was only a matter of time that ILLENIUM would renew that part of his career considering a recent string self-remixes like his ASCEND (Tour Edits) and a co-remix of “Blame Myself” alongside Virtual Riot. The surprise drop comes just two days before his official merchandise collaboration with Marvel’s Batman launches through Electric Family. ILLENIUM explained that he heard Nirvana’s 1991 track while watching the newest Batman film and felt immediate inspiration to put his own touch on it. The remix undoubtedly has a much darker feel than the euphoric melodic bass side that we’re used to from the Grammy-nominated producer, but it’s a welcome change of pace that further emphasizes the depth of his production reach. Pre-sale for ILLENIUM’s Batman collaboration starts April 22 at 10AM PST and can be previewed here. And if that wasn’t enough, ILLENIUM also just rolled out tickets for the follow-up edition of his Ember Shores destination festival, which can be found here.
