The day has arrived. Chris Lake, one of house music’s biggest icons, has just released his debut album, Chemistry. After 20 years of touring and carving out his own unmistakable sound, we’ve finally got an album. Self-released via his very own Black Book Records, this project sees Lake operate on his own terms—free from label influence and driven entirely by his singular creative vision.
It is without question that Chris Lake is a primary architect of the modern house music sound on the main stage. His pristine production and undeniable live performances have helped elevate the genre to new heights. It is not entirely common for house artists to release full-length albums, making this milestone after two decades of work a significant testament to his career. Unlike the industry standard of releasing multiple singles to road-test tracks, Lake kept the majority of this album under wraps, confident that his cohesive vision would land with his audience.
Chemistry delivers everything fans expect from the producer, balancing euphoric, emotional numbers with high-energy club shakers. The 15-track collection features 13 collaborations, with artists selected specifically for their creative synergy rather than streaming metrics. Standout tracks like “Ease My Mind” with Abel Balder and “In My Head” with Amber Mark lead the charge, while “Reach For You” featuring MPH and Kelly Lee Owens, and “Falling” with Bonobo and Alexis Roberts, offer truly breathtaking moments. Lake also invites his wife, Aatig, to contribute to the vibrant house track “Watch The Sunrise.”
The album represents a culmination of 20 years of integrity and trailblazing. Reflecting on the release, Lake shared:
“I hope Chemistry draws more people into the deeper side of dance music. There’s a vulnerability in putting this out there, but that’s where the real connection happens. I’d love to see more full-length albums coming out of this space, and I want to help that grow.”
