In March 2021, LEFTI declared Quincy Boy Records open for business with “I Demand,” the Brooklyn-based label’s inaugural production. In a Q&A with Dancing Astronaut, LEFTI gestured to Quincy Boy Records’ calendar, stating that its “first year of releases…is pretty much all scheduled.” One of them comes in the form of Friends & Family Vol. 1. The slick, nine-song parcel is Quincy Boy Records’ debut compilation album, canvassing “all of the flavors that represent our style and sound with one common factor throughout…a nice groove,” the label declared in messaging surrounding Friends & Family Vol. 1. Flaunting a kinetic type of energy, the upbeat, funk-ridden effort coalesces submissions from Sum Bloke, Disco Daddy and Boogietraxx, Clavette, Folkness, Rich Furniss, Max Kaluza, Calo Vance and Neysa, T ONE, and of course, LEFTI himself. Winning must-stream status for listeners who embrace the soulful, dance-worthy brand of disco-house that LEFTI has driven in recent years, Friends & Family Vol. 1 can be enjoyed below.Tags: house, Lefti, Quincy Boy Records
