Many would likely be surprised at the fact that Blasterjaxx and Maddix are two artists that had yet to ever cross paths. And just based on the reactions they received on the “Purpose” announcement, more than a few people also had both names placed together on the list of destined collaborations. Blasterjaxx and Maddix had always been in similar dance music circles while building their release records within Revealed Recordings throughout the 2010s, and it seemed as if a formal meeting between them could only be described as overdue. After debuting in Manchester back in February—even making a brief appearance in Miami during Nicky Romero’s Ultra set—”Purpose” has now officially arrived through Maxximize Records. It’s safe to say that while a Blasterjaxx and Maddix co-venture deserved to happen, the result undeniably comes as an up-to-date, evolved product relative to what one may have expected from the combination a half-decade prior. “When bigroom meets techno” was a spot-on way for Blasterjaxx to boil “Purpose” down to, with Blasterjaxx and Maddix seamlessly finding the sweet spot of two dance music corners that they’ve built authority in and skillfully coupling those respective sounds for a long-awaited pairing that forcefully hits the collaborative mark.Featured image: Maxximize Records/InstagramTags: blasterjaxx, Maddix, maxximize records
