Anjunabeats continues 20 year celebration with new mix from Mat Zo

It’s hard to believe that Above & Beyond‘s beloved imprint, Anjunabeats, has already provided 20 years of sweltering trance music. Over two decades and hundreds of individual releases, Anjunabeats and its darker sibling, Anjunadeep, have collectively garnered one of the most loyal followings in dance music comprising fans and artists alike.

To celebrate a landmark 20 years of production, Anjunabeats is doing what it does best: releasing music. In the coming weeks, Anjunabeats will release installments from a new compilation mix series that will be curated by veteran Anjuna artists, with the latest mix coming from the mind of the always eclectic Mat Zo.

Mat Zo made his first Anjunabeats appearance back in 2008 with a remix of Matt Hardwick and Mark Pledger’s “Fallen Tides,” placing a sweeping, percussive spin on the original. Later that year, Zo returned to the label with his first solo EP, Rush/Defined. The two-track offering exquisitely demonstrated Mat Zo’s talent for chord progressions and melodic elements.

Now, more than a decade later, Mat Zo is paying tribute to Anjunabeats with 12 tracks that initially inspired his affection for the imprint. Zo articulated the aim of his compilation mix upon its release, stating,

“Anjunabeats is a label with a lot of history, and it’s cool to be a part of that. I’ve seen the label evolve over the years from relatively humble beginnings, and it’s amazing to still be a part of it 12 years later. With this mix, I wanted to show how broad the range of Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep is, and what drew me to the label in the first place.”
