Multifaceted bass music artist Steller enters a defining new chapter with Shifting The Lens, a four-track EP that prioritizes emotional depth, conceptual clarity, and personal transformation over trend-chasing or algorithm-driven output. Released independently, the project stands as her most intentional body of work to date, framing bass music as a vehicle for reflection, growth, and self-awareness.
At a time when electronic music often rewards speed and saturation, Shifting The Lens takes the opposite approach. Each track is rooted in philosophical thought, mental health themes, and lived experience, creating a cohesive narrative rather than a collection of standalone moments. The EP’s foundation comes from the idea of “turning the lens inward,” inspired by Ram Dass’ Be Here Now, a concept that mirrors Steller’s own period of personal transition and reframing perspective.
“Instead of thinking ‘why is this happening to me,’ I shifted it to ‘this is happening so I can grow,’ and it changed everything,” Steller explains.
A Conceptual Arc Built on Contrast and Intention
The EP unfolds as a complete emotional journey. The title track anchors the narrative with spoken-word elements and expansive textures, gradually evolving into psychedelic bass and dubstep-driven release. “Universe Provides” leans heavier, delivering spellbinding sound design, vocal cuts, and weighty drops that feel both cathartic and grounding.
“Bring The Energy” flips the script with funk- and hip-hop-infused bass tailored for live settings, injecting momentum and movement into the project. Closing the EP, “Frames of Infinity” captures its core message most clearly. The track explores the idea that there are infinite versions of ourselves to grow into, pairing delicate downtempo passages with warm melodic layers and powerful drops. The song features breakout vocalist Taylr Renee, whose performance adds emotional clarity and depth.
“Production wise, I feel like you can hear my sound leveled up,” Steller shares. “I am super proud of ‘Frames of Infinity,’ and grateful to Taylr Renee for bringing the vision to life with her vocals.”
While Shifting The Lens arrives alongside a new headline tour and a growing run of festival appearances, the EP itself remains the centerpiece.
