Baby Audio Tekno V1.1 Turns Drum Synthesis Into a Full Production Workflow

When Baby Audio released Tekno in late 2025, it landed with a clear purpose. This was not another sample-based drum machine competing on preset count. Tekno positioned itself as a circuit-modeled drum synthesizer built for producers who wanted hands-on control, fast sound shaping, and drums that responded like hardware. With Tekno V1.1, that foundation stays intact, but the plugin now steps into a much larger role inside the DAW.

The headline addition in V1.1 is the new onboard sequencer, and it changes how Tekno fits into a session immediately. Instead of routing MIDI from clips or external tools, producers can now build patterns directly inside the plugin, shaping rhythm and sound in the same place. Each of Tekno’s 18 voices gets its own lane, with up to 32 steps per lane, making it easy to sketch full drum ideas without breaking focus.

A Sequencer That Feels Designed for Producers, Not Added for Marketing

Tekno’s sequencer avoids the usual one-size-fits-all approach. Lanes can be shortened independently, which makes polyrhythms quick to set up without complex routing. Speed multipliers allow individual voices to move at different rates, while hit chance and smart randomization introduce variation without turning patterns into chaos. The result feels intentional, especially for producers working in techno, house, and harder electronic styles where subtle movement matters as much as impact.

This approach reinforces what Tekno already did well. Sound design and rhythm remain tightly connected, so adjusting decay, pitch, or drive immediately reshapes how the groove feels. The sequencer does not replace DAW sequencing. It complements it, especially in early idea stages and loop-focused workflows.

Workflow Improvements That Make Tekno Feel Finished

Beyond sequencing, V1.1 addresses several practical requests from users. Global undo and redo remove friction when experimenting. Full kit sample export makes it easy to move sounds into other samplers or sessions. Four choke groups improve realism and control, especially for hi-hats and percussion. Per-voice humanize and randomization locks help preserve feel while keeping certain elements consistent Press Release – Tekno V1.1 Upda….

The update also introduces an iOS version with full AUv3 support, launching alongside V1.1 on January 8, 2026. That move extends Tekno beyond the desktop without simplifying its core concept, which keeps it aligned with producers who move between studio and mobile setups.

At $129 MSRP with a $79 re-intro price, Tekno V1.1 positions itself as a long-term drum platform rather than a novelty plugin. With the sequencer in place, Tekno now covers sound design, rhythm creation, and export in one focused environment, making it easier to start ideas quickly and finish them with intent.
