Fortunea Records has somehow always managed to find artists at the moment their voice clicks into focus, and Petals In Sound feels very much like that kind of artist.
The alias of UK-based producer and DJ Louise Baldwin, the project carries the imprint of lived-in dancefloor experience and careful, patient studio work. After more than a decade immersed in South East London’s club culture, Baldwin relocated to Crosby, Liverpool, where a slower rhythm and the enforced stillness of the 2020 lockdown helped sharpen her relationship with production. It was there she found her groove, releasing her debut EP “Palace” on Boyanza Records later that year to early support from NTS Radio and Sloth Boogie: the first signal of a voice worth following.
Since then, Petals In Sound has quietly built momentum through releases on labels like Closer To Truth, Dirt Crew, and Inhale Exhale, each refining a sound that treats deep house as a flexible framework rather than a fixed form. Baldwin’s productions push and pull at the genre’s foundations, pairing hypnotic rhythms with precise, modern sound design. There’s an underlying sense of play in the way her tracks unfold (tension introduced, released, then reshaped) without ever losing their grounding in groove.
That sensibility comes into full focus on “Days“, her first vinyl release and a confident debut on Fortunea. The EP features four original tracks that lean into well-crafted depth and steady hypnotism, complemented by a remix from Vienna-based DJ and producer Dzc., who reframes the material with a subtle, club-ready touch. Mastered by Patrick Pulsinger, the record carries a warm, controlled clarity that suits its immersive intent.
Released on December 19th, “Days” is a carefully crafted package and a strong introduction to an artist whose approach to deep house feels both thoughtful and quietly forward-looking. Vinyl will be limited to 200 copies – so if you want to grab it, act fast!
