DELA Audio Unveils $9,999 S5 Dataswitch for High-End Streaming Systems

DELA Audio has announced the release of the S5 Audiophile Dataswitch, a professional-grade managed network switch built to enhance the performance of high-resolution music systems. Priced at $9,999, the S5 refines the approach first seen in the company’s Melco S100 and flagship DELA S1, delivering tighter network control, upgraded power regulation, and new configuration options tailored to streaming environments where sound quality is a priority.

Designed for audiophiles who value precision, the S5 introduces front-panel control of link speed and advanced connectivity through both Neutrik RJ45 and SFP+ fibre ports. These additions allow users to customize signal flow for different playback scenarios, such as lowering speed to reduce noise in streamer setups or increasing it for faster server processes like Roon.

Engineered for Audiophile Streaming

The S5 was developed to eliminate noise and interference introduced by conventional IT hardware. DELA’s new Super Clear Dynamic Power Supply ensures consistent voltage and low distortion across all network conditions. Each port’s activity can be monitored and disabled directly from the front panel to conserve resources and reduce electronic noise, while adjustable link speeds allow fine-tuning for different playback components.

Connectivity options include seven Neutrik RJ45 ports and four SFP+ fibre ports, providing flexibility for direct Ethernet and optical connections. A USB 5V output powers external accessories such as ADOT fibre isolation units, and all rear-panel indicators can be switched off to maintain signal purity during critical listening sessions.

Designed for Professional Systems

The S5 chassis reflects the industrial design language of DELA’s N1 and S1 series, constructed from brushed aluminium with a stainless-steel rear panel, CNC-machined corners, and isolation feet to control vibration. Measuring 440 x 353 x 77 mm and weighing 9.5 kg, the switch is built for rack stability and durability.

Alan Ainslie of Audiophile Digital Music Masters (ADMM) noted that the S5 represents what’s possible when precision engineering is applied to audio networking. By leveraging the R&D resources of DELA’s parent company, Buffalo Inc., the S5 combines IT-grade reliability with audio-specific tuning aimed at improving musical performance across any streaming platform.

Pricing and Availability

The DELA S5 Audiophile Dataswitch is available now through authorized hi-fi retailers worldwide for £7,499 / €8,999 / $9,999. Distribution outside Asia is handled by Audiophile Digital Music Masters in the UK.
