Volt 876 USB Recording Studio Combines UA’s Analog Heritage with Modern Workflows

Universal Audio has announced the Volt 876, a new USB recording interface designed to bring full analog-inspired sound to entire bands and production teams. Following early excitement and an accelerated launch plan, coverage began on September 30, 2025, with customer shipments set for October 14, 2025.

A Full Studio in One Interface

The Volt 876 is the latest addition to UA’s Volt series and is built by the same team responsible for the Apollo interfaces. With eight onboard vintage preamps and front-panel compressors modeled after UA’s classic 610 tube console and 1176 limiter, the interface is designed to give microphones and instruments the same tonal warmth found in professional studios.

To match that character, the unit includes professional-grade 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion, delivering clarity for both large and small recording setups. This makes the Volt 876 suitable for everything from capturing full band sessions to tracking detailed vocal performances or acoustic instruments at home.

Workflow That Adapts to Modern Production

The Volt 876 supports Mac, PC, iPad, and iPhone, making it one of the more flexible interfaces in its category. Session recall and assistive tools are handled by the UAD Console app, which introduces features like Auto-Gain, two low-latency cue mixes with talkback, and the ability to recall front-panel settings. This workflow allows creators to move between projects without losing mix setups, which is especially useful for studios handling multiple artists.

UA has also integrated the device with its LUNA Digital Audio Workstation. Users gain access to unlimited tracks, AI-powered features such as Voice Control and Instrument Detection, and Tempo Listen, which automatically maps tempo to recorded material. This tight integration creates a streamlined environment for writing, recording, and mixing.

Tools for Producers and Engineers

Beyond hardware, the Volt 876 ships with a premium suite of UAD plug-ins and instruments. Included are Teletronix LA-2A and UA 1176 compressors, Pultec EQs, the PolyMAX Synth, and the Showtime ’64 Guitar Amp, among others. These tools allow producers to add analog-style character and professional effects directly to recordings without needing third-party plug-ins.

For larger setups, UA allows up to three Volt 876 units to be combined, or integration with Apollo and ADAT-equipped gear. This scalability means the interface can serve as the foundation of a home studio while also fitting into bigger, hybrid systems as needs expand.

Designed for Modern Musicians

The emphasis of the Volt 876 is accessibility without sacrificing quality. It provides the sound of a professional recording studio in a package that works on laptops, tablets, and phones. That portability, combined with the included plug-in suite, makes it attractive for both established engineers and emerging producers looking for a central piece of gear that can grow with their workflow.

Pricing and Availability

The Universal Audio Volt 876 USB Recording Studio is priced at $999 USD. Media coverage has already begun following the early launch announcement, and units will begin shipping on October 14, 2025. Review units are expected in November, and UA has opened sign-ups for interested partners.

Universal Audio continues to position the Volt line as a bridge between professional studio sound and accessible workflows for creators of all levels. With the Volt 876, entire bands and production teams can track high-quality sessions with the same tonal character and toolset that defined some of the most iconic recordings in music history.
