Toronto-based musician Jeff Hartford, aka ATTLAS, announced his forthcoming third studio LP, Carry It With You, with the debut of the project’s lead single, “Waterbug” on February 25. The heartfelt tune is a reflective, quick-tempoed beauty. With wispy vocal chops and the moody fluttering of notes from a rubato piano that make up this emotive song’s composition, “Waterbug” denotes a new era of sound for the JUNO Award nominee.“I can’t think of a better track to introduce you to the album—the piano prologue, the rhythms and moods that I hope sweep you into the subsequent works to follow. A continuation of not just finding my voice but how I’m going to use it.,” said the mau5trap composer in a post on Instagram in the time leading up to the song’s release. The deeply introspective track is “a rumination on personal isolation,” said the artist. “It’s an album of my toughest thoughts about myself that I was forced to address. My past, my failures and the mistakes I could no longer bury or run from or hide… My isolation mentally and emotionally became extreme to the point of damaging, but I found peace in what I thought was a collapse.”The producer said he hopes that the sounds and notes heard in his forthcoming LP sufficiently capture the pieces of himself that he abandoned. Carry It With You will be available to stream on all major music platforms on March 11. In the meantime, stream “Waterbug” below.Featured Image: Christina BoemioTags: attlas, Carry It With You
