Gianni Blu, D. Lylez reconvene for house-minded take on Pitbull, Ne-Yo’s ‘Time of Our Lives’

For the past two years, Gianni Blu and D. Lylez have flexed their status as serial collaborators, rallying behind reworks of mainstream classics such as Chris Brown‘s “Forever,” with which the producer and vocalist commenced their ongoing run of conversions. A modernized take on Bob Marley’s “Jammin‘” saw Blu take a solo approach to recasting, but later in 2021, he’d realign with Lylez for a take on Usher and will.i.am’s mid-2000’s club favorite, “OMG.” After dousing the original in deep-house aesthetics last May, Blu and Lylez are back in their re-imaginative wheelhouse, a rendition of Pitbull and Ne-Yo‘s “Time of Our Lives” in tow. “Time of Our Lives,” which previously appeared on Pitbull’s 2014 LP, Globalization, undergoes a house-centric makeover that maintains the reference track’s energetic personality, with added vocal smoothness, thanks to D. Lylez’s contributions. Over the course of Blu and Lylez’s reconfigurations, Lylez has exercised something of an uncanny capacity to resemble the original vocals, and their version of the Globalization favorite, “Times of Our Lives,” is no exception. “Times of Our Lives,” which dabbles in slap-house territory and doubles as Blu’s first release of the calendar year, can be streamed below.Tags: , , , , , ,
