In just a matter of years, Last Heroes have ascended from little-known production duo to staples of the melodic bass scene. Formed in 2016, the pair has collaborations and official remixes with names like Nurko, Seven Lions, and Gryffin, not to mention a masterful debut EP, Moments, and a follow-up EP, Finding Light, released via Ophelia Records in 2019 and 2020, respectively. To give either project a proper sequel would be a feat for any artist, and yet Last Heroes have done just that with their Ophelia-backed Threads EP. The five-track effort continues their ascending journey in the dance music world that’s seen them nab supporting spots on both Seven Lions and Dabin’s tours this year, as well as festival slots at Global Dance Festival and Lost In Dreams. According to an Instagram post in the run up to the release, Threads is a continuation of the story told in Finding Light that doubles as a reflection of the positivity and optimism in their lives and an acknowledgment the doubt and uncertainty of what’s to come.Last Heroes led Threads with the Liel Kolet-assisted “Change It” and “Knowing How To Break” with Dancing Astronaut Supernova RUNN. Both feature the quintessential Last Heroes melodic sound that fans know and love with vocalists who lend a familiar voice to the records. Of note, Kolet teamed up with Last Heroes once previously with “Naked Soul” and RUNN twice before (on Finding Light‘s lead single “Love Like Us” and “Waiting For You“). Threads is just the latest in an ever-growing line of successes in Last Heroes’ story. Their mission statement— “to create a platform that would bring people together and remind everyone that they have a purpose in life”— has never rung more true than it does onThreads. Ahead of their junior EP’s arrival on August 27, Last Heroes shared some insight into the meaning behind Threads, stating,Listen to the full EP one day early, exclusively on Dancing Astronaut.
