In honor of Black Music Month, Kaleena Zanders invited five Black producers—12th Planet, R3LL, Lee Wilson, KOIL, and Vindata—to remix “RELOAD,” which chronicles her experience with police brutality. Of the initiative, Zanders said, Each of the five remixers applies their own twist to Zanders’ original, culminating in a meeting of disco-house, Jersey Club, dubstep, tropical house, and deep house on RELOAD [reloaded]. Zanders’ remix package challenges dance artists—and their listeners—to think about injustice through the sonic medium.
