Crystal Skies release philanthropically-centered single, ‘Lullaby’

In June, Crystal Skies could be seen rolling up their sleeves on a Twitch livestream to craft a new cut as part of the “Make A Track In A Day: A Charity Stream For Racial Injustice” challenge. The stream offered those who tuned in an unprecedentedly intimate glimpse of the production pair’s in-studio synergy and their electronic approach. In the time since, the once-nascent cut that viewers saw come together on Twitch, “Lullaby,” has vaulted to digital streaming platforms, expanding Crystal Skies’ melodic bass catalog and providing further philanthropic benefit.

All proceeds from Crystal Skies’ constructive Twitch stream, as well as the royalties from their on-the-fly one-off, have been directed to local- and national-level organizations seeking to raise awareness of systemic racism and police brutality, such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Legal Defense Fund and Communities United Against Police Brutality. Carrying Luma‘s vocal signature, “Lullaby” emblematizes the electronic duo’s stance against racial injustice and its efforts to use music as a medium to effect change.

Make no mistake—dance music is born from black culture. Without black creators, innovators, selectors, and communities, the electronic dance music we hold so dear would simply not exist. In short, dance music is deeply indebted to the global black community and we need to be doing more. Black artists and artists of color have played a profound role in shaping the sound and culture of dance music and now more than ever, it is necessary for everyone in the music community to stand up for the people that have given us so much. Dancing Astronaut pledges to make every effort to be a better ally, a stronger resource, and a more accountable member of the global dance music community. Black Lives Matter—get involved here:
