Ushuaïa, Hï Ibiza shutter for the summer following statement from Balearic government

Sadly, it’ll be a quiet summer on the White Isle.

The Balearic government has laid out rigid restrictions for clubs this season, effectively ending Ibiza‘s party season in the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Following a statement from government officials detailing social distancing measures for venues that are able accommodate seating-only arrangements, The Night League, managing brand behind two of Ibiza’s most in-demand properties, has decided to shutter Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza for the remainder of 2020.

Venues that wish to accommodate guest seating, heavily reduced capacities, and scaled back business hours can operate under strict sanitary measures this summer. Previously it seemed Hï and Ushuaïa would only be closed through July, though The Night League, is opting to skip the season altogether.

Furthermore, not only the clubs, but Ibiza, could remain largely in a state of lockdown much longer than just this year. Minister of Tourism, Iago Negueruela, told Diario de Ibiza that these safety precautions could stay in effect into 2021 or as long as it takes to find either a ble treatment or vaccine for COVID-19. As things increasingly take a digital pivot, perhaps a virtual Ibiza experience could be underway, though for now, the safety of event goers and venue staff is the utmost priority.
