In recent years, the name “FRQ NCY” has become synonymous with inventive sound design and clean mixdowns. The year has changed, but these characteristics remained fixed on FRQ NCY’s first release of 2022, the BLOOM EP. The three-pack of melodic electronic cuts dovetails with Gems, a five-track solo effort that arrived in mid-October of 2021. “I see Bloom as the aftermath of Gems, or an extension. I wanted to make something simple yet relatable on an emotional level for those that listen to this EP; perhaps a feeling of growth, and an unspoken understanding of what the music is trying to relay,” FRQ NCY remarked.BLOOM will appeal to listeners partial to the sounds popularized by Ophelia Records and ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective, not to mention Kasbo and Medasin. Marked by rhythmic creativity and a generally scintillating tone, the BLOOM EP is a melodic rush well deserving of must-stream status. FRQ NCY will self-release BLOOM on March 22, but audiences can hear it in all of its lucid glory one day early, exclusively on Dancing Astronaut.Featured image: InsomniacTags: Bloom EP, FRQ NCY, melodic, melodic electronic
