PREMIERE: FENRA Bursts Onto the Scene with Debut Track “COFFEE”

Portland’s electronic scene has no shortage of producers blending introspection with experimentation, but FENRA’s debut single “COFFEE”, taken from his upcoming debut EP “Delusional”, feels like a particularly important arrival.

Out October 3rd, 2025 via 6x Records, the track is an introduction to the world of B Laws, the Santa Rosa-born, Portland-based artist who has reimagined himself under this new moniker. Mastered by Aneek Thapar, whose past work with Rival Consoles and Max Cooper proves a meticulous ear, “COFFEE” signals a carefully crafted vision already in motion.

FENRA’s path to this moment is layered, much like the music itself. His earliest musical memories trace back to listening to hymns alongside his grandmother, a formative experience that taught him harmony’s emotional weight. By 14, he had taught himself guitar, later pushing into synths, vocals, and drums while playing in bands that toured across the US, Europe, and Asia. “COFFEE” is both a continuation and a departure: a solo venture that synthesizes years of collaboration, travel, and discovery into something unmistakably personal.

FENRA’s influences are clear but never heavy-handed. Caribou, Four Tet, and Floating Points are clear touchstones, while the minimalist clarity of Philip Glass and the raw soul of Gloria Ann Taylor also linger in the track’s DNA. The result is a dreamy composition where pitched-down vocals, hammered dulcimer, woozy atmospherics, and weightless pads converge into an ambient-downtempo reverie. Time itself seems to bend within the track’s spirals, as if the song were less a piece of music than an environment.

As FENRA puts it: “‘COFFEE’ might be my favorite song on Delusional. The hammered dulcimer / pitched vocal combo is not something I had heard before and I really like the way it turned out.” If this single is any indication, “Delusional”, arriving November 28th, 2025, will be worth sinking into.

“COFFEE” is out tomorrow, but you can take a listen to it early at the link below. Pre-save it here.
