Right now, surely one thing the entire universe needs it seems is some certified groovy house music. Luckily the master himself, MK, has seen fit to provide. Dealing out his tried and true formula of rhythmic piano chords and searing vocals, the appreciating legend chose to remix Katy Perry‘s recent “Daisies” for his latest output.
Lyrically honing to Perry’s common themes of empowerment and courage, her latest anthem of self-confidence flows even better over MK’s four-on-the-floor beat. Perry teased the track on Twitter last month, including the hopeful addendum “We will dance even if it’s at home!” Read the tweet and stream the full track below:
Some of u with sharp ears caught a glimpse of this remix earlier this week 👏🏼 Major thanks to @MarcKinchen for kicking off the first #Daisies dance party of the summer… we will dance even if it’s at home! 🎶🕺💃☀️🌼🎶 https://t.co/8A7MT0lieN pic.twitter.com/89T3c7UuhO

Make no mistake—dance music is born from black culture. Without black creators, innovators, selectors, and communities, the electronic dance music we hold so dear would simply not exist. In short, dance music is deeply indebted to the global black community and we need to be doing more. Black artists and artists of color have played a profound role in shaping the sound and culture of dance music and now more than ever, it is necessary for everyone in the music community to stand up for the people that have given us so much. Dancing Astronaut pledges to make every effort to be a better ally, a stronger resource, and a more accountable member of the global dance music community. Black Lives Matter—get involved here:
