The names that have sustained an abiding progressive identity as favorably as Matisse & Sadko are few and far in between. Although “Best Thing” and “Strings Again” are in their 2020 release rearview, the Russian brothers have remained quiet during the coronavirus pandemic, taking advantage of the ancillary time and translating it into musical yield. For their third product of the year, Matisse & Sadko have returned home yet again to submit their highly coveted ID, “Now or Never,” through Martin Garrix’s STMPD RCRDS.
Matisse & Sadko found a fitting pathway for building momentum for their next release when they initially trialed “Now or Never” during Martin Garrix’s Dutch waters boat stream. The then-ID garnered considerable attention, earning recognition as one of the most highly sought unreleased pieces played during Garrix’s set. Setting out to produce something suggestive of the early 2010’s progressive heart, Matisse & Sadko prevail in doing just that as the pair decisively captures that unmistakable generation with another crisply-made production.
