Matisse & Sadko broadcasted that they’d be publishing monthly wins on the STMPD RCRDS calendar beginning in February in an exclusive one-on-one with Dancing Astronaut, and they’re now cashing in on that pledge. Presented as the maiden ID to Martin Garrix’s set at Tomorrowland’s New Year’s Eve virtual celebration, “Meant To Be” has turned itself in as Matisse & Sadko’s first impression on the new year. If “Meant To Be” presents any sort of familiarity beyond its end-of-2020 introduction, it’s because the single has actually been four years in the making. Originally briefly crowd-tested in an edit during Matisse & Sadko’s post at the STMPD RCRDS stage at Tomorrowland in 2018, and then reacquainted with the duo’s live sets in the label boss’ THE ETHER spectacular at ADE the year after, “Meant To Be” has at long last reached its one hundred percent completion rate. Drawing inspiration from the 1990s era of French electronic, Matisse & Sadko shower their idiomatic touch with a downpour of nostalgic house synths along with a welcomed addition of vocals to the initially instrumental-only track for a bright entry to their cosmic release slate in 2021.Featured image: Ushuaïa IbizaTags: Martin garrix, matisse & sadko, stmpd rcrds, tomorrowland nye
