iZotope has released Ozone 12 Advanced, the latest edition of its flagship mastering suite. Designed as an all-in-one solution, Ozone 12 includes 20 professional modules, three of which are brand new, alongside refinements to its AI-powered Master Assistant workflow. The release continues iZotope’s focus on balancing intelligent features with user control, giving producers the ability to finalize mixes with precision while maintaining creative input.
At $499, Ozone 12 Advanced delivers a full mastering environment inside a DAW, with expanded functionality that caters to both seasoned engineers and independent producers who want fast, high-quality results. New modules include Bass Control, Unlimiter, and Stem EQ, each targeting common mastering challenges.
New Modules for Bass, Dynamics, and Stems
Bass Control is the first of its kind in Ozone, providing a dedicated module for shaping and balancing low frequencies across playback systems. Producers can now manage bass translation visually and sonically without needing multiple plugins.
Unlimiter acts as a corrective tool for mixes that have been over-compressed earlier in the chain. By restoring dynamics and balance, it gives users a way to revive material that otherwise might have been difficult to master effectively.
Stem EQ allows for targeted adjustments to vocals, bass, drums, and other elements within a stereo mix, all without needing to revisit the multitrack session. For mastering engineers working with stems or bounced projects, this addition provides a new level of flexibility.
Alongside these tools, the Maximizer has been updated with the new IRC 5 algorithm, designed for transparent loudness control. Every module works within the broader Ozone environment, allowing producers to combine corrective processing with creative shaping inside one interface.
Updated Master Assistant and Workflow Improvements
The Master Assistant in Ozone 12 has been reworked with a customizable flow. Users can now tailor how the AI guide interacts with their project, matching target sounds in seconds but leaving room for detailed control. This update aims to provide speed without locking users into rigid templates.
All instruments, audio effects, and MIDI devices in Ozone now include an A/B comparison feature, enabling quick evaluation of parameter changes. Together with the new modules, these workflow refinements support faster mastering while preserving creative decision-making.
Ozone 12 supports all major plugin formats including AAX, AU, and VST3, and is compatible with macOS Ventura through Sequoia, as well as Windows 10 and 11. Hosts include Logic 11, Pro Tools 2025, Ableton Live 12, Studio One 7, FL Studio 25, Cubase 14, Nuendo 14, REAPER 7, Audition CC 2025, and Premiere CC 2025.
For producers, Ozone 12 offers a streamlined way to finalize tracks that balances advanced DSP with practical tools. From repairing dynamics with Unlimiter to fine-tuning stems without leaving the stereo bounce, the update is aimed at real-world mastering needs across different levels of experience.
