After a brief hiatus and a big life shift (becoming a father), Intr0beatz is finally back in the studio.
If you thought the Reykjavik-born producer would take a while to get back up to speed, think again. After releasing a few singles earlier this year, his latest EP, “Static Motions“, lands on Berlin’s Aterral label today. It’s a record that is warm, rich, and unmistakably his.
Intr0beatz (real name Arsaell Thor Ingvason) has long been one of Iceland’s most underrated producers. His roots in hip-hop and experience with turntables still echo subtly through his work, but it’s deep house where he’s truly found his style. “Static Motions”, a three-track offering, is a perfect example of that evolution, both in a personal and a musical sense.
“These tracks came from old files I’d collected over the years,” he shares. “In a new environment, I shaped them into something that reflects my journey through house music—where I started to where I am now.” That new environment is Berlin, where he’s recently relocated post-paternity leave, bringing a new perspective to his already intricate production style.
“Static Motions” is a refined, introspective blend of textures. Expect warm chords, precise drums, and an expertly-formed combination of grit and grace. It’s an EP with a timeless atmosphere that doesn’t need to shout to be heard: it’s laid-back without being sleepy, and energetic without being brash.
With previous releases on respected imprints like SlothBoogie, Stay True Sounds, and his own label Cosmic Angles, Intr0beatz continues to rise through the ranks deep house. “Static Motions” is poised to be just the next chapter in an already phenomenal career. We cannot wait to see what’s next.
