A tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive with coronavirus in what is believed to be a case of what one official called “human-to-cat transmission.” The U.S. Department of Agriculture has confirmed that this is the first instance of a tiger being infected with COVID-19, though the virus appears to have infected other animals as well. Only one tiger was tested, but many people are wondering how a tiger managed to score a test while tests for people are scarce.
