Honey & Badger took what he labeled a “short hiatus” in the months following his last official outing—excluding a free rework of Flume and Laurel’s “I Can’t Tell” just before the summer began—back in May. But the Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch in 2022 has now put that brief release intermission behind him, making his introduction to Dr Fresch.‘s House Call Records for a dual-wielded offering, Connection.Conceived out of a period of reflection during that break—which he explains was the result of him wanting to “take a step back and slow down the pace” of his music—Connection is a reinvigoration of the Honey & Badger identity and the direction that he aimed to push it. And through Connection‘s A-side and B-side—better known as “Phone Call” and “Way Back”—resolutely jump starts his release schedule once again, distinctively intertwining a Belgian-induced medley of both ’90s-like and present-day tech-house that further justifies his position in our forenamed 2022 class.
