Giorgio Fazio Reimagines a Cult Classic with Jungle Flip of Hudson Mohawke’s “FUSE”

There are some tracks that shape an entire generation of producers. Hudson Mohawke’s “FUSE”, from his groundbreaking 2009 “Butter” LP, is one of them.

Now, over a decade later, Italian creative director and producer Giorgio Fazio offers a uniquely personal reinterpretation in “FUSE (Jungle Flip)“, a truly wonderful homage to HudMo’s original, refracted through the lens of jungle, ambient garage influence, and low-end punch.

Opening with glitchy grooves and textural fragmentation, Fazio’s flip sets an emotional tone before even playing a beat. Amen breaks cascade over pitchy vocal stabs and filtered pads, building tension through every single moment. “It’s designed for low-ceiling rooms, open fields and sound systems that respond to tension more than drop,” he says – a line that captures the track’s sense of unstable propulsion perfectly.

It’s hard to deny just how much of a game-changer Hudson Mohawke was back in the early aughts, with him completely flipping the script on underground electronic music producers. “If you were producing during the early SoundCloud era, you felt the impact of Hudson Mohawke in real time,” Fazio explains. “That sound hit hard and rewired how we worked inside a DAW… Revisiting FUSE now means returning to that moment where sound felt unpredictable and full of intent.”

This flip is a distillation of memory, influence, and emotional imprint, which should be no surprise coming from Fazio, a skilled visual communicator who has two decades of experience working with international brands and contemporary artists. Clearly, telling stories through art and immersive experiences has set him up to do the same in his music career, which he launched this year and is off to a strong start with. Fazio’s long-standing connection to the UK scene, and particularly artists like ASC, informs the flip’s dynamic minimalism, where space is just as powerful as pressure.

By anchoring his interpretation in the foundational energies of jungle and IDM, Giorgio Fazio delivers a stunning tribute, both reverent and restless, to a moment in time when experimental electronic music felt like a paradigm shift.
