Channel Tres submits jazzy hip-house remix of Joji’s ‘Gimme Love’

For his latest re-imaginative trick, Channel Tres takes on “Gimme Love” from 88Rising export, Joji. Joji’s 2020 hit single, “Gimme Love” follows February’s “Run,” with both singles hailing from Joji’s upcoming album, Nectar, due September 25. While Joji’s original strays from the producer’s usual downtempo, moody R&B format with its uptempo rhythm, Channel Tres turns down the tempo to introduce his modern hip-house sound, a combination of classic house elements and analog instrumentation.

The collision of the Compton producer with the Japanese sultry R&B internet personality is a prime pairing, what with Channel Tres’ addition of jazzy sax ad libs to the original striking a steamy and smooth allure.

Donations from the video that has arrived alongside the remix will benefit the Equal Justice Initiative, a non-profit organization committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, challenging racial and economic injustice, and protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.

Make no mistake—dance music is born from black culture. Without black creators, innovators, selectors, and communities, the electronic dance music we hold so dear would simply not exist. In short, dance music is deeply indebted to the global black community and we need to be doing more. Black artists and artists of color have played a profound role in shaping the sound and culture of dance music and now more than ever, it is necessary for everyone in the music community to stand up for the people that have given us so much. Dancing Astronaut pledges to make every effort to be a better ally, a stronger resource, and a more accountable member of the global dance music community. Black Lives Matter—get involved here:
