Following a successful run of releases from UK-based producers James Hurr and Loz Seka, STBAN, the visionary force behind FLAMENCA Records, has returned to his own imprint with a powerful new single. Titled ‘Habibi,’ the track officially dropped on April 10th, marking another significant milestone in the label’s mission to bridge the gap between traditional Spanish folklore and contemporary electronic music.
A Fusion of Cultures and Rhythms
‘Habibi’ is a masterclass in percussive house music, blending the raw, organic heat of Arabesque instrumentation with the relentless, driving basslines characteristic of modern dancefloor anthems. To achieve this distinct sound, STBAN enlisted the expertise of two prominent figures in the Spanish scene: DJ and percussionist Javi Torres and the versatile vocalist and DJ Alba Dreid.
Collaborative Excellence
Javi Torres brings a wealth of experience to the collaboration, having built a reputation across southern Europe and Latin America for his explosive sets that integrate live percussion. His work has garnered support from industry titans including Martin Garrix, Alok, Jamie Jones, Hugel, Aaron Sevilla, Roger Sanchez, Mëstiza, MichaelBM, Tom & Collins, Novak, Nicky Romero, Paco Osuna, Salvarote Ganacci, and Sammy Porter.
Complementing the production is the vocal prowess of Alba Dreid. Rising to national prominence after her appearance on the RTVE program ‘La Bien Cantá,’ Dreid has dedicated her career to bringing Spanish folklore to a global audience. Her contribution to ‘Habibi’ provides the perfect emotional anchor for the track’s intricate, rhythmic layers, solidifying the release as a standout new music offering for the upcoming festival season.
As FLAMENCA Records continues to expand its discography, ‘Habibi’ stands as a testament to the label’s commitment to innovation and cultural fusion. Fans of melodic house and world-inspired electronic beats will find this track to be an essential addition to their playlists.
